Travel to Doha

TEDxSummit is not a typical conference. Please review the details below and find out how to get the most out of your week in Doha.

Questions?

Logistical question? Confused about something? We're here to help. Contact us via e-mail.

  1. All you have to do is catch a flight. You book a flight to Doha, and we'll take care of the rest! Accommodation, visas, food, and transport will be provided to TEDxSummit 2012 attendees. If you cannot afford a flight to Doha, we'll have a limited number of scholarships available; please indicate you need assistance on your application form.
  2. Arrive early. You should plan to arrive on Sunday, April 15, the day before the TEDxSummit program begins. Arriving on Sunday means you'll be able to join tours and activities on Monday before the TEDxSummit 2012 Opening Night Monday evening.
  3. Stay until the very end. We recommend you stay in town on Friday, April 20 until at least 3:30pm to enjoy the farewell party. Saturday morning is also a great time to leave, after joining a casual group for dinner Friday night.
  4. Clear your calendar. No, really. In order to get the most out of TEDxSummit, you have to lend us your brain. Ignore your email. Don’t set up conference calls. TEDxSummit will be an immersive experience, and you won’t want to miss a moment.
  5. Leave your laptop in your room. Cell phone, too. At minimum keep them in your bag. TEDxSummit merits your full attention, and laptops and cell phones are a big distraction -- not just for you, but for everyone around you.
  6. Eat. Drink. Sleep. TEDxSummit will run full throttle for four days. You’ll enjoy it more if you pace yourself: drink plenty of water, grab light healthy snacks, go easy on alcohol, and get as much sleep as is humanly possible.
  7. Talk to strangers. Get to know your fellow TEDx organizers, from those in your backyard to those halfway across the world. Chance encounters often lead to new ideas, projects, perspectives, companies. So don't limit your experience by hiding with your friends.
  8. Let us help you. Our team will do their best to answer any questions and solve any problems, from logistics queries to laptop breakdowns. Reach us via e-mail at tedxsummit@ted.com.
