Airport Information & Directions to Oxford

Most international attendees will reach the UK via London'a Heathrow or Gatwick airports:

Oxford is about 60 miles (90 km) northwest of London, and has excellent road and national rail links. Regular coach services connect Oxford with the capital and also with Heathrow, Gatwick and Luton airports.

BY COACH:
Bus service runs from downtown London or through London Heathrow or Gatwick airports to Oxford. Oxford Bus Company and National Express offer fares starting at £20 one-way. You can book in advance online, or you can pay the bus driver cash to take the next available bus. The Oxford bus terminal is located at Gloucester Green, a two-minute walk from the Playhouse and within walking distance of all hotels selected for TEDGlobal 2009.

BY TRAIN:
A direct service operates between Oxford and London Paddington (approximately every 30 minutes), and between Oxford and Birmingham New Street via Banbury and Coventry. Other services operate from the north via Birmingham New Street; from the South via Reading; and from the west via Didcot or Reading.

BY CAR:
Private car services need to be booked in advance. If arriving by air they will track your flight and are waiting for you in the terminal.

Oxford is connected to London, the M25 and the Midlands by the M40 motorway. Junctions 8 and 9 link directly to the city. The Oxford ring road provides direct access to the south and west coast ports of Southampton, Portsmouth and Bristol via the A34.
