Program Our home in Vancouver
We’re thrilled to present TED’s 30th anniversary conference in a spectacular new location: Vancouver, Canada.
Why move?
We had five wonderful years in Long Beach, but for our 30th anniversary, we wanted to try a new space. And we found it in Vancouver, a city that's itself an inspiration -- cosmopolitan, energetic, innovative, yet with unrivaled natural beauty, surrounded by mountains and water. The recently completed convention center is a spectacular meeting space offering limitless possibilities in a beautiful corner of the city. We're not moving to accommodate more people — in fact we're reducing audience size. We hope we've found a venue that can do even more to inspire creative thinking and dynamic ideas. And we're sharing free TED webstreams with local schools and nonprofits, to help spark conversation among local communities.
The Vancouver Convention Centre
A modern, green building right on the waterfront, with breathtaking views, the Vancouver Convention Centre offers both scale and intimacy. At its heart is a soaring space where TED's stage designers are dreaming up something brand-new: a custom theater designed to maximize the impact of talks, permitting multiple configurations for sitting, listening and connecting with the speaker. It's a bold rethinking of the conference experience. Outside the theater, and on the same level, there is room for exciting exhibits and meeting spaces against a backdrop of the harbor and mountains. It's hard to imagine a better space to nurture big dreams and dynamic ideas.
Hotels, restaurants and events
Our partner hotels include the Fairmont Pacific Rim, the Fairmont Waterfront, the Pan Pacific, Marriott Pinnacle and Le Soleil — some of them right across the street from the event, others within easy walking distance. Vancouver's restaurants will be at their best while we are here, showing off this foodie city's best dishes. Parties will take advantage of some of Vancouver's most dramatic spaces.
